Mr Vusumuzi M Penyane is a Counseling Psychologist, registered with HPCSA- PS 0129224 with a strong background in Christianity. He completed his master’s degree in counselling psychology at the University of KwaZulu/Natal (UKZN) in 2013; completed his internship at the Central University of Technology in 2014; and I hold a certificate in Medico-Legal Practice from University of Cape Town (UCT).

Mr Penyane worked in the catholic church for more than 20 years as a pastor where he trained as an Engaged Encounter (for couple preparing for marriage to talk honestly and deeply about their future), Marriage Encounter (is a marriage enrichment programme helping couples to improve their communication) and Retrouvaille (is for couples facing difficulties or challenges in their relationship) facilitator. As a psychologist he worked at UKZN- Pietermaritzburg campus and in private practice. His past clinical work including working with religious, adults and adolescents and a variety of university student population from CUT, UKZN and UNISA.

His areas of interest include but not limited to working with wide array of psychological problems with individual, adults, couples, families and groups on the issues affecting them such as relationship and marital issues, trauma and abuse, grief/bereavement, adjustment problems, self-esteem and sexuality, family or parenting problems, stress and suicide, career and study counselling, and spiritual counselling. He considers each client’s individual needs, taking a holistic approach which considers the whole person, including their emotional, spiritual, and physical environments.

His approach is eclectic, and he makes use of Person Centered Approach, Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and EMDR. He combines his expertise as a psychologist and pastor in dealing with Christian clients who prefers to consult with a Christian psychologist. Hopefully, the journey of therapy with him will free you and you will be able to be present in your relationships – and be able to deal with whatever issues you face in life.

He speaks Zulu, English and Italian and he can understand most Nguni Languages.
